Internship Review
How did you hear about/get it?
I was referred to the internship by a colleague I met while volunteering for a community media project.
Daily tasks
Lots of logging footage, digitizing tapes and transcribing. I also did research for shows in development and worked on rights and clearances, not to mention more typical internship tasks like running errands, shipping packages, stocking office supplies, helping set up locations, arranging catering, etc.
Best part of the job?
Seeing through the entire pre-production phase on a 4-pack of TLC shows was very educational. Plus, my boss ended up recommending me as a Key Office PA for a big Warner Bros. movie.
Worst part of the Job?
Driving my supervisor's car to run errands!
Additional Comments/Advice to others
As far as I know, interns are hired on an as-needed basis only. But I would recommend the experience since, in many ways, it combined the best of both worlds; I was able to work on major corporate programming (Discovery Communications) in the more accessible environment of a small, local production company.
